New for 2022: Call Recording and Disclaimer Information

As you get ready to review your Medicare coverage this fall, you may notice our agents will be asking to record your calls and provide a new disclaimer at the beginning of phone conversations. The disclaimer and recording of calls is a new regulations put into effect by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Here is a brief overview of what you can expect during your conversations with Life Plans+ licensed agents this AEP.

Recorded Phone Calls

One of the new compliance rules released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is calls must be recorded. We are required to record and store for a minimum of 10 years, all conversations with Medicare Beneficiaries or their representatives who want to discuss Medicare Advantage and/or Part D prescription drug plans. You can opt out of having the call recorded, however we will have to set up a face to face meeting and end the call if you wish to continue with the consultation and plan review.

Please note that every agency selling Medicare must comply with this new rule.

New Disclaimer

The second new compliance rule you may notice this fall is that we have a new, required disclaimer that you will hear at the beginning of any call you have with one of our licensed agents.

This is the disclaimer you will hear:

“We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.”

We must recite this disclaimer since we serve Medicare Beneficiaries in multiple states and we cannot possibly offer every single plan in every single county. It is required within the first 60 seconds of the phone call, so you will likely here it immediately after our licensed agent says hello.

We apologize in advance if this disclaimer feels unfriendly or stiff, but we are committed to being compliant with CMS rules and regulations, after all they are there to protect Medicare Beneficiaries.

Life Plans+ is a brokerage, meaning we offer insurance plans from many companies, in fact we most of the plans available in most of the states and counties our agents work in. We do annual reviews of plans available and certification process with each carrier, this allows us to offer competitive and well- rated plans.

One of the many ways we ensure this high level of service is to put your needs first, and this means remaining compliant with CMS rules and regulations. These rules are put in place to help alleviate confusion and ensure consumers receive accurate information to help them make their best health care decisions.
