What is the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) and Medicare Advantage (Part C) are two different ways to get Medicare benefits. Both options provide the same basic level of hospital and medical insurance but there are also important differences between them. We help you learn about the difference in coverage, cost and care provider rules. All of these factors will help you decide which option is best for you.

Can You Switch Between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?

Yes, no matter which option you decide is right for you, you can switch from Original Medicare to Medicare Advantage or vice versa. There are two main times you can switch are the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) and the Medicare Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for qualifying life events. If you are wanting to see if you have had a qualifying event, give us a call!

Do I have to pay my Medicare Part B premium if I have a Medicare Advantage Plan?

Yes, you continue to pay premiums for your Medicare Part B benefits when you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare decides the Part B premium rate. The standard 2022 Part B premium is $170.10, however it can be higher depending on your income.
